As ever, we applaud the admirable folk who run the Irish Council for Civil Liberties Human Rights Film Awards. Applications are now open for the 2013 edition of Ireland’s only human-rights themed short film competition. The organisers ask for a film of no more than 12 minutes duration that focuses on a human rights issue “in, or relevant to, Ireland”. Live-action, animation, drama and documentary are all acceptable.
The ICCL have knocked together a hugely starry jury that includes such luminaries as David Norris, Rebecca Miller, Stephen Rea and Brenda Fricker. Application details and access to all previous short-listed films can be found at humanrightsfilmawards.org.
