Festival, critics give out gongs

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival ended last Sunday with a screening of François Ozon’s comedy Potiche

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival ended last Sunday with a screening of François Ozon's comedy Potiche. When the debris was cleared away , Bendi Belili, a study of five talented musicians from Congo, emerged as the winner of the audience prize.

More prizes were handed out on Saturday afternoon by the Dublin Film Critics' Circle. Representatives of the body, headed by Tara Brady of this parish, named Benjamin Heisenberg's The Robber, an Austrian thriller, the best film of the festival. Best Irish film was Carmel Winters's Snap.

Brian Jennings, partner of the late Michael Dwyer, presented the Michael Dwyer Discovery award to Nicky Gogan and Maya Derrington of Still Films, which has produced such fine documentaries as Seaview, Pyjama Girlsand Build Me Something Modern.
