DUGGERNA REEF: PHOTOGRAPHS OF A LANDMARK SITE IN CO CLARE BY PAUL LYNAM. Glór Gallery, Causeway Link, Ennis, Co Clare Until Apr 25

Some years ago, Paul Lynam, who is based in Limerick, embarked on a photographic exploration of aspects of the Irish countryside. He has progressively zeroed in on the well known resort town of Kilkee in Co Clare. Kilkee and its environs formed the subject of his last exhibition.

In the current one, Duggerna Reef,he considers Dogairne, the rock barrier that flanks one side of Moore Bay. It's much more than a barrier, though – it consists of an extensive area of rock pools and declivities that has been enjoyed by generations of locals and visitors. Over time the three main bathing pools, each with its own character, have become identified with particular users: there's the ladies' pool, the men's and one generally favoured by younger swimmers.

Over a two-year period Lynam photographed the reef at all times and seasons, building up a portrait of a natural landscape remarkably well suited to its human visitors.
