CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS

A report in last Wednesday's editions headed "Fruit of the Loom retrenchment deters Udaras factory agreement" incorrectly quoted a spokesman for Udaras na Gaeltachta as saying that a decision by Fruit of the Loom to defer a leasing agreement for Dungloe was understandable and prudent. In fact, he said that it was understandable and prudent of the company to defer the transfer of the current workforce of 80 in Dungloe to the new factory and to defer the proposed expansion of the plant. The spokesman for Udaras points out that the company has already committed itself to entering into a formal leasing agreement and to taking possession of the new factory.
