Mr Thomas Foley, of Cork, who now lives in Perth, Western Australia, was one of the former Irish merchant seamen honoured at Dublin Castle last Sunday for valour during the second World War. An award was received on his behalf by his sister, Mrs Carmel Kelly. It was not a posthumous award as stated in last Monday's Irish Times.
