After weeks of speculation, the BBC confirmed this week that their station 6 Music is to close next year. The station is home to shows by the likes of Lauren Laverne, Adam & Joe and musician Guy Garvey. Lily Allen and David Bowie have already criticised the decision, with Bowie saying: "6Music keeps the spirit of broadcasters like John Peel alive. For new artists to lose this station would be a great shame."
