Regency card tables fetch £6,600
Town & Country held what must have been the last auction of 1998, on December 20th, and they were rewarded with some very strong prices. A pair of Regency mahogany card tables sold for £6,600 and a set of eight Victorian dining tables made £3,400.
Jupe-style circular table makes £4,800
A late 19th-century Jupe-style circular table fetched the top price of £4,800 at a well attended sale in Thomas P. Adams's Blackrock saleroom last Tuesday. Also in the sale, a French Louis XV-style commode with a shaped marble top achieved £4,300; a Victorian mahogany four-door bookcase fetched £3,600; a Sheraton period inlaid mahogany sideboard sold for £2,600; and an Edwardian mahogany two-door wardrobe, with Angelica Kauffman made £2,000. A pair of French giltwood fauteauils, upholstered in pink damask, were knocked down at £1,650.
