Irish art, furniture and silver focus of lectures
Bookings are now being taken for the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute's advanced evening course in Irish art, silver and furniture, which begins on February 10th.
The 10-week course will examine the history of art and decorative furnishings from the mid 18th century with two-hour classes being held on Wednesday evenings. The illustrated talks will be given by Brian Coyle and James O'Halloran of James Adam and Douglas Bennett of furniture and silver specialists, Douglas Bennett & Associates.
The course fee is £165 and further details are available from Vivienne McSherry at the institute.
Talk at Hugh Lane Gallery next week
Hamilton Osborne King's fine-art expert, Nick Nicholson, and Professor John Turpin of the National College of Art and Design will give a talk next Thursday evening at the Hugh Lane Gallery. Tickets, which are priced at £10 and include a wine reception, are available from Hamilton Osborne King's Molesworth Street office.
