MORE active corporate involvement in a major competition to turn rubbish into art is being sought by its sponsor, Mr Jim McNaughton, managing director of TileStyle.
Mr McNaughton cited the example of two Dublin women who started collecting old knitwear - "stuff even the Simon Community would throw out" - and now employ five others producing wall hangings which sell for around £300 each.
The corporate category was devised for companies to show how imaginative they could be in recycling their own rubbish either by using the talents of their own staff or by commissioning artists or tradesmen specifically for the competition.
Among the companies participating are Aer Lingus, Bank of Ireland and Gateway 2000. Others who may wish to submit entries before the closing date of January 31st should contact TileStyle at (01) 874 2900. The winning entries will be shown on RTE's Kenny Live in February.
