Aer Lingus passengers up 2% in August

Aer Lingus carried 1.12 million passengers in August, an increase of 2.2 per cent on the same month last year.

According to the airline latest traffic statistics, the carrier short haul passenger numbers were 906,000, a decrease of 1.2 per cent on August last year.

Long haul passenger numbers were 103,000 which represented an increase of 7.3 per cent on the same month last year.

The airline’s regional’s total flown passenger numbers in August were 107,000, an increase of 35.4 per cent on August 2011.

The carrier’s short haul load factor – a measure of how full the planes are – was 84.6 per cent, up 1.2 per cent on August 2011, with capacity decreasing by 1.8 per cent.

Long haul flown load factor was 93.2 per cent, an increase of 2.4 points on August 2011, with capacity increasing by 4.0 per cent on prior year.
