The Soundtrack

NOTICE how those CDs keep piling up? And now that most computer programs come on CD-Rom you have more than ever. Choice number one: why not keep them in ugly piles, twisting ever upwards, and have them topple onto the floor every time you try to pull one out? Choice number two: why not pay a stylish boutique - or a professional carpenter - half your monthly salary for a small but pretty CD rack?

But now you can say goodbye to that I'm-broke-and-my-CDs-are-all-over-the-floor-again misery, with the new Soundtrack. Designed by suave, espresso-drinking, Ferrari-driving Italians at the famed Alessi design studio at Crusinallo, the soundtrack is in essence a narrow, adhesive-backed strip, with tracks running along it at intervals of about a centimetre. Simply stick the Soundtrack to any flat surface, then slot in your CDs. Each pack contains 120 centimetres of track, and you can cut it to suit your CD-stacking needs.

The Alessi-designed Soundtrack, £11 (€14), is available at Minima on St Stephen's Green, Dublin, and other good gizmo outlets.
