Ogilvy & Mather has won the Texaco account in a pitch that included O'Connor O'Sullivan, the Helme Partnership and Irish International.
It was the newly-formed agency's first new business pitch and it was predominantly a strategic and credentials pitch.
Texaco was previously with Saatchi's and, in terms of advertising spend, it has been quiet in the recent past.
However, it is expected that the move to Ogilvy & Mather will see increased activity on television and radio for Texaco, especially given Statoil's strong media presence.
