Tesco motors into insurance

Tesco has moved into the direct motor insurance market in the UK and promised to offer some of the cheapest quotes available. It made the move following similar moves into other insurance fields including home, contents and travel. Tesco personal finance spokesman Mr Andy Dewhurst said: "Some consumers are paying over the odds for their motor insurance and at Tesco we want to ensure that our customers get a fair deal.

"Drivers have nothing to lose and everything to gain by ringing us to see if we can offer them a better price for their cover."
