THE European Commission has approved Telecom Eireann's strategic alliance proposals. The Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications Mr Dukes announced the decision from Brussels yesterday. Under the alliance plan, Comsource, a consortium of KPN of The Netherlands and Telia of Sweden, is to pay at least £183 million for an initial 15 per cent stake, with an option to buy a further 20 per cent.
