WATERFORD-BASED Pivotal International has won a contract worth over €750,000 to complete the design of the new Dr Solaiman Fakeeh Hospital Trauma Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Pivotal will be a sub-contractor to SAK Consultant Office, a Saudi-based architectural practice founded by Sheikh Solaiman El Khereiji, to construct the 60,000 sq m medical facility.

Pivotal is a consortium bidding for business in the Gulf region and includes four Irish consultancies: Nevin Construction; Fewer Harrington Partners Architects; Thomas Garland Partners; and MacArdle McSweeney Associates.

The contract was announced as part of an Enterprise Ireland trade mission of 45 companies to Saudi Arabia and Qatar which is being led by Minister for Trade and Development Jan O’Sullivan.

She also visited the site of the HQ Building, which will be the tallest office block in Jeddah. Irish firm CES Energy has the $150 million contract to supply power, heating and water for the building.

Separately Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton announced that 15 companies would receive funding of up to €50,000 through the latest Enterprise Ireland competitive start fund.
