CyFi wireless sports speaker – £99.99

Outdoor enthusiasts may be tempted by the oddly-shaped Cyfi wireless sports speaker, a bluetooth-equipped portable sound system for your music player, phone or laptop. The lightweight device can be mounted almost anywhere you want, whether its your bike for a quick trip in the country or on a backpack to annoy a train full of people.

Rechargeable – and more importantly for Ireland, water resistant – it can be charged with a desktop stand. The battery life is decent enough, with a two-hour charge giving you up to six hours of music on the move. The iPod compatible speaker also has buttons for skipping tracks and adjusting the volume so you need never touch your phone or MP3 player again. If you feel so inclined you can connect up to four of them to get a bit more power.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz

Mobile phone makers are churning out so many handsets these days its hard to keep track.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz, however, stands out from the crowd a little. For a start, it looks more like a camera than a mobile phone. It would probably be able to get away with it too; the phone packs an 8 megapixel camera. This may not be too unusual these days – plenty of other phones have similar cameras – but the high-definition video capabilities certainly are.

The screen may not be an iPhone challenger at 3.2 inches but it’s large enough to view your high-definition content. With the standard micro USB charger that mobile phone makers are introducing, it is far more convenient than previous SE models for charging options.

Asus ROG G73Jh – £1,899

In the not so distant past PC gaming was traditionally carried out on desktop machines, powerful enough to take the ramped up graphics and sound cards that were necessary at times and a nice extra at others. Times have changed, and there are now high powered flashy notebooks that will take anything you can throw at them. Asus has unveiled a gaming notebook that will set free anyone still clinging to their desktop. The Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) G73Jh comes with the latest Intel Core i7 processor, has DirectX 11-capable ATI Radeon HD5870 graphics, and up to 8GB of DDR3 system memory. It also comes with 1TB of hard drive space.
