High-profile McNamara projects

SHELBOURNE HOTEL

The five-star hotel located on Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green reopened in March 2007 after extensive refurbishment, costing an estimated €125 million. The hotel is owned by Bernard McNamara (right) and fellow developers John Sweeney, David Courtney and Bernard Doyle through their vehicle, Kantaka Enterprises.

ELM PARK

This major mixed-use development is located on Merrion Road, Dublin. ACCBank filed a petition earlier this week to wind up Radora Developments, the company behind the project. Property developers David Courtney and Jerry O’Reilly are also involved in the project

O'DEVANEY GARDENS

Companies controlled by Bernard McNamara were awarded a number of high-profile public private partnership contracts by Dublin City Council to rebuild some of the city’s largest social housing flat complexes. The regeneration of O’Devaney Gardens was one such project that was put on hold following the property collapse

GLASS BOTTLE SITE

Bernard McNamara led the purchase of the Irish Glass Bottle Site in 2006 for €411 million, along with Derek Quinlan and the Dublin Docklands Development Authority. He was subsequently sued by a group of investors over unpaid loans given to the McNamara company, Donatex, involved in the purchase. The 25-acre site was subsequently valued at €50 million

RADISSON HOTEL, GALWAY

Bernard McNamara developed one of the country’s plushest hotels with property developer Jerry O’Reilly in 2000. The hotel was constructed by Michael McNamara Construction
