Diageo has announced that the former head of Guinness Ireland, Mr Colin Storm, has been appointed chief executive of Guinness, its brewing arm.

Mr Storm, who is currently deputy chief executive of Guinness and head of Guinness in Britain, will join Diageo's executive committee. He replaces Mr Brendan O'Neill who is leaving to become chief operating officer at ICI in May.
