STATE agencies have for too long been promoting a grant mentality which is to the detriment of the small business sector, according to the Small Firms Association (SEA).

Mr Brendan Butler, director of the SEA, has called for a fundamental reappraisal of government policy in relation to funding small business. He called on the various State agencies to continue the realignment of grant aid in favour of long term, low cost loans and equity participation.
