Price website to be wound up

PRICE COMPARISON website uchoose

PRICE COMPARISON website uchoose.ie is to be wound up, with a meeting of its creditors scheduled to take place early next month.

According to a notice placed in the Daily Star newspaper yesterday, Uchoose will hold a creditors’ meeting on March 4th in order to appoint a liquidator.

The company, which is based in the Drogheda Business Development Centre, was incorporated in 2007.

The most recent accounts filed with the Companies Office show that uchoose.ie had accumulated losses of €23,723 at June 30th 2008.

At that point, the company’s liabilities falling due within a year stood at almost €110,000, in addition to longer-term liabilities of €25,000.

Last July, a subsidiary of The Irish Times Limited, Digitalworx, took a 10 per cent stake in the website.

It is understood that the decision to wind down the company was taken as it had run out of funds, and has been unable to obtain further cash injections from investors.

The site enables consumers to compare features and prices on a range of everyday utilities and services, such as broadband, credit cards, digital TV, hotels and car hire.
