Poland's prospects for EU membership would increase trade flows between it and the Republic and redress the trade imbalance between the two countries, the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney, told Irish company representatives during a two-day visit to Warsaw. "Irish exports were up 43 per cent, at £192 million, in 1998 over 1997 levels, while imports from Poland were only up 2 per cent, at £52 million, over the same period," she said.
