Formus Communications Ireland, the Internet data services company, has appointed Mr Kevin Dunphy as director of customer operations. He has worked in the telecommunications industry for 10 years, holding senior positions in Telewest and Level3 Communications in Britain.

Ms Philippa Taaffe has been appointed director of human resources at Formus. Formerly, Ms Taaffe was director of human resources, Europe with Wall Data and has also held management positions with Andersen Consulting and Mobile Systems International.

The Jurys Doyle Hotel Group has made five new managerial appointments.

Mr Seamus McGowan and Mr Joe Quinn have been appointed to the new positions of group general managers for Ireland.

Mr McGowan has worked for both the Jurys and Doyle Hotel Groups, most recently holding the position of general manager at the Burlington Hotel.

Previously he was deputy general manager at Jurys Hotel Dublin and general manager, Jurys Kensington Hotel.

Mr Quinn joined the Jurys Hotel Group in 1989 as deputy general manager and moved on to hold the positions of general manager at Jurys Hotel Waterford and most recently general manager at Jurys Hotel Cork.

Jurys Doyle has appointed Mr Peter McDermott as general manager of the Burlington Hotel.

Mr Fergal Somers has been appointed general manager of Jurys Cork Hotel, coming from the Jurys London Inn where he was general manager. He joined the group in 1995, and has held a variety of positions within the group, including a stint as deputy general manager in Jurys Cork and general manager of Jurys Christchurch Inn, Dublin.

The group has appointed Mr Padhraic Flavin as general manager of Jurys London Inn, transferring from his position as deputy general manager of Jurys Manchester Inn.
