Oil executive resigns

The chief executive of Providence Resources, the oil and gas explorer controlled by Dr Tony O'Reilly, has resigned. Providence said that the chief executive, Mr Andris Blankenburgs, has resigned to return to Australia for family reasons. In the interim, Providence chairman Mr Brian Hillery will oversee an interim executive committee until a new chief executive is appointed.
