Tax officials want the Minister for Finance to rethink his proposals to bring the start of the tax year forward to January 1st. The president of IMPACT's 1,500 strong tax officials branch, Ms Pearl Kelleher, has predicted it will lead to "administrative suicide" with too little time between the Budget and the start of the new tax year. She was speaking at the annual conference of the branch in Killarney last night. Mr McCreevy told delegates the changes would lead to a better system of administration.
