MasterCard has compiled a handy set of holiday money hints and tips for Irish holidaymakers, including some key phrases in French and Spanish to cope with money problems.
So for any Family Money readers who need to say "your cash machine has eaten my MasterCard" in Spain, try "su cajero automatico se ha tragado mi targeta". In France it's "votre distributeur a avale ma carte".
Another scenario MasterCard prepares travellers for is "my flight has been delayed, my luggage is lost and I've run out of cash".
That's a pretty unlucky set of circumstances but if it happens in Spain at least you can tell someone about it. "Mi vuelo ha sido retrasado, me equipaje se ha perdido, no tengo dinero suelto."
