The Irish meat industry has been urged to take advantage of the staging in Dublin this year of the World Meat Congress, which will be attended by 600 international meat experts and policy makers. The exhortation came from the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mr Walsh, who released details of the event to be held from May 17th-20th in Dublin.

The congress will be attended by Mr Dan Glickman, the US Secretary for Agriculture; the acting EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Franz Fischler; and Mr Frank Wolter, of the World Trade Organisation.
