Are you a saver or a spender?I try to be a saver. I used to be very good . . . but lately I find that after I've saved a bit I'll have a day of weakness and splurge on clothes or musical equipment.

Do you shop around for better value?

Yes, when it comes to food shopping definitely, and clothes oftentimes, too – I always end up in Penneys. But sometimes I feel spending that little bit extra is worth it when it comes to quality.

What has been your most extravagant purchase and how much did it cost?

Last year I bought a DKNY leather bag that cost me $150. That’s a huge spend for me, especially on a bag, but it had been reduced from $250.

What purchase have you made that you consider the best value for money?

I bought Pro Tools MP + Fast Track Pro for €149 ( thomann.de) recently. It includes Pro Tools software and an audio interface, and it's great for recording ideas at home.

Have you ever crossed the Border to shop?

Not specifically to shop, no, I don’t think so.

Has the recession changed your spending habits?

I think so, yes. General cutbacks all around. These days I spend more time looking online for bargains.

Cash or card?

Card (debit). With my debit card I only spend exact amounts and I don’t have €5 and €10 notes in my purse tempting me.

What was the last thing you bought and was it good value for money?

I bought a top from River Island. It’s nice, not great value for money, though, in terms of what I usually spend on clothes. I bought it on a whim – bad decision! I’ve decided to return it since answering these questions, you’ve made me feel guilty.

Is money important to you?

Not really. Maybe a little. I don’t like having nothing in my bank account, so I always tend to save something, although usually very small, in case of emergency. In the career I’ve chosen it’s really not about money (especially at this stage), it’s about doing what you love.

How much money do you have on you?

Nothing.
