Frankfurt stock market fell in trading dominated by tensions on the New York market. Trading was featureless and volume low, and one dealer commented that "absolutely nothing happened today, except for pressure on Deutsche Bank".

Paris CAC-40: 2004.75 (+8.52)

The Paris Bourse finished the trading week off with a gain as the CAC 40 index broke back up through the 2,000 point level to finish at 2,004.75 points, up 0.43 percent from the Thursday close. Trading was quiet, with volume of 3.6 billion francs.

Milan MIBTEL: 9393 (+109)

Italian stocks closed firmer with banks and telecoms leading the recovery despite continuing worries over Olivetti's financial accounts which the troubled information technology group has yet to clarify.
