ONE MORE THING:EXACTLY ONE year on from its purchase of Tullamore Dew from CC, Scottish drinks group William Grant has made another appointment to its leadership team here.

Damien Heary has been recruited as global planning and innovation director.

Heary will be based at William Grant’s global marketing office in Dublin and lead its innovation and planning teams in Ireland, Britain and US. He joins from Publicis QMP where he was head of planning and a member of the board. He also led Publicis Ireland’s international digital research company, AskChili.

BARCLAYS BANK Ireland has a new chief executive. Scot Andrew Hastings takes the reins today having been recruited from BNP Paribas Ireland, where he was country head for the past four years. He replaces John O'Connor in the role.

Hastings spent 15 years with BNP and 11 with Royal Bank of Scotland. He takes charge of Barclays' corporate, investment banking and wealth management divisions here. Barclays has been busily recruiting in Ireland of late. Last week, we revealed that former Tipp hurling star Nicky English had been poached from AIB. Other hires are expected as the British bank seeks to increase its market share here.
