International carry-out food retailer, Little Caesars, is to open in Ireland and has announced plans to have eight stores within the next 18 months.

The company, which is one of the world's fastest growing pizza companies with annual revenues in excess of €1 billion says it intends to open 45 stores across the country over the next five years.

Announcing its move to Ireland yesterday, Little Caesars senior director, Michael Therrian, said it will provide Irish consumers with the widest range of fresh, non-processed product in the most convenient way.

"Little Caesars will meet the convenience food requirements of Irish families, singles and professional clientele who require a fast take-out service, but are not willing to sacrifice on nutrition or quality" he said.

Its arrival in Ireland marks its first step in a major expansion into Europe. Little Caesars already operates in 22 countries across five continents.

The group has signed a 10-year agreement with Dublin-based Doughmaster to support the development of its Irish franchise.

Doughmaster has been formed by Brian Palmer and Ronan Smith for the purpose of managing the Little Caesars Irish business.

Little Caesars was established in Michigan in the US in 1959.
