The Frankfurt stock market suffered a moderate loss yesterday as investors became nervous due to the DAX index's inability to stay above the 2,500 point level, traders said after the close.

The DAX ended the official session at 2,479.03 points, after having traded between 2,502.40 a new all time record high and 2,478.1 during the session.

The bond market's weakness also depressed the stock market, traders said, adding that the bond price weakness was due to technical reasons.

The Paris Bourse lost ground yesterday as the CAC-40 index ended just above the 2,000-point level, at 2,001.94 points, off 0.66 per cent compared with the Monday close. Shares started higher after hopes rose of an interest rate cut, but the rally soon ran out of steam.
