Jinny Software, a Dublin-based wireless software specialist founded in June last year, has raised $2.5 million (€2.49 million) investment capital. Details of the investment have not been disclosed, but it is understood to represent a minor stake in the company. The company is advertising for a new chief executive today, and the additional finance will be used to accelerate the development operation and recruit a sales and marketing team Dublin. Jinny's most significant contract to date has been to implement a wireless application protocol (WAP) gateway at AIB, which incorporates a security layer from Baltimore Technologies to offer completely secure mobile banking.
Jinny says it is the first company to provide full strength security to WAP for mobile commerce by offering unbroken security from the mobile phone all the way to its WAP gateway. The Jinny gateway allows businesses to provide new services to mobile customers by securing communications and transactions from the end-user to existing e-commerce and IT systems.
