Shares in Britain's Independent Insurance Group slid to a near four-year low yesterday as UBS Warburg cut the stock to a "sell" rating in the wake of poorly received results earlier in the week.

Shares in the insurer, which this week reported its Irish operation was the main driver of group growth in its first year, have fallen to half their value from the beginning of the calendar year.
