GameStop opens third Limerick store

Specialist games retailer GameStop has opened its third Limerick store on William Street. GameStop says that despite the downturn in the economy it has plans to open an additional four stores in the coming months creating 25 new jobs. The computer games retailer has 56 shops in Ireland and the UK.

IBM expands Lotus's availability

IBM said it would expand availability of its free Lotus Symphony office application suite to Macintosh, Ubuntu Linux, OpenOffice 3.0 and Microsoft Office customers.

To date Symphony has been downloaded more than three million times worldwide.

Samsung launches new Gael Fón

Samsung Electronics has released the L700, its latest mobile handset to support the Irish language. The newest "Gael Fón" from Samsung offers Irish as a language option as well as predictive text "as Gaeilge".

The metal-bodied L700 will be available in Vodafone and Carphone Warehouse stores this month and will retail from €99 on pre-pay.

Complete's 1.25m financing deals

Complete Telecom has made financing deals worth over €1.25 million in the last 12 months for customers buying technology from networking giant Cisco.

Cisco Capital provides a range of loan and lease products to fund the purchase of equipment from its parent. Complete said that because Cisco Capital can draw down funds from its parent's balance sheet, it is not suffering the same credit restrictions as mainstream banks. The deals include both finance leases and operating leases and are the most arranged by any Cisco partner in Ireland.
