A sixth interim report drawn up by the two inspectors investigating the affairs of National Irish Bank (NIB) was presented to the High Court yesterday. Mr Justice Peter Kelly said it would be sent to the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.

On the application of Mr Jim O'Callaghan BL, for NIB, the judge made an order that the bank should be furnished with a copy of the interim report.

Mr O'Callaghan said that out of courtesy to the Director of Corporate Enforcement, Mr Paul Appleby, the report should go to him first and go to the bank 48 hours afterwards.

The two inspectors, former judge Mr Justice John Blayney and accountant Mr Tom Grace, were appointed by the High Court on the application of the Tβnaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney, in March 1998.
