MORE than 50 jobs are to be created at Turniec Engineering, a manufacturer of fish farm cages and other specialist platforms, based in the Co Meath Gaeltacht of Rathcairn.
Udaras na Gaeltachta, the development agency for Irish speaking areas, is giving a grant of £335,000 to the company which was established 16 years ago.
The announcement was made by the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, who visited the plant yesterday.
The company currently employs 56 people and is now expanding following success in opening up new markets in Ireland and abroad.
In recent years the company has expanded into manufacturing specialist power access platforms for Telecom Eireann and other customers, including Upright and Wellman International.
The existing fish cage manufacturing business continues to expand, with new markets being developed in the Far Fast.
Udaras is due to shortly publish its report and review for 1995. They are expected to show a continuation of the positive trend set in 1994 when net employment in Gaeltacht regions grew by a record 442. Total employment in the Irish speaking regions is expected to be around 6,500.
