ESB International (ESBI) has announced that it has bought a 50 per cent stake in Guyana's national electricity utility for $23 million (€21.5 million) as part of a consortium. The consortium also includes the London-based Commonwealth Development Corporation. It has a 25-year licence to manage the business in the Caribbean, trading as Guyana Power & Light.
