Providence announces two new appointments to board

Providence Resources has announced two new appointments to its board, as part of plans to progress its Barryroe offshore work programme.

Financial and business strategist Peter Newman will join the board as senior independent non-executive director and will chair the audit committee.

Communications specialist Ann-Marie O’Sullivan will join the nominations committee of the board.

Both appointments will become effective at the conclusion of Providence’s annual general meeting on Thursday.

Mr Newman has more than 30 years of experience in business, serving seven years as global head of oil and gas with Deloitte. He is also director of the Addax and Oryx Group (AOG), an entrepreneurial investment group in Africa and the Middle East. Mr Newman chairs the Audit and Corporate Governance Committees at Toronto-listed Forza Petroleum, and sits on the board of independent petrol forecourt operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG).

He has also held leadership roles in the Energy Institute, the World Petroleum Council, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Ms O'Sullivan is the founder and chief executive of AM O'Sullivan PR, a communications consultancy headquartered in Cork.

She is a board member of Mercy University Hospital, a member of the Cork Airport Development Council, and is the current chair of the UCC Alumni Board.

Ms O'Sullivan has also held senior board positions with the DAA, Cork Chamber and the Public Relations Consultants Association of Ireland, and served on the board of several not-for-profit organisations in the Cork region.

She is a member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD) and in in December 2020 was conferred with the title of Life Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland.

The chair of Providence Resources, James Menton, welcomed the appointments.
