Bord Gáis to spend €5m in hurling communities as part of GAA sponsorship

Sponsorship of GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship extended for three years

Bord Gáis Energy has extended its sponsorship of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship for a further three years to 2022.

Over the next three years, Bord Gáis Energy will invest in the region of €5 million in hurling to support communities across Ireland and develop GAA rewards for Bord Gáis Energy customers.

Bord Gáis Energy has a long association with the GAA, as title sponsor of the Under-20 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Championship for more than a decade. It is also the official energy partner to the GAA and sponsor of the Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tours of Croke Park.

Set up in 1976, Bord Gáis Energy provides gas, electricity and other services to more than 730,000 residential and business customers throughout the Republic.

In 2014 it became part of the UK-based listed Centrica group. It also owns a 445MW power generation plant in Whitegate, Co Cork which can power up to 400,000 homes.
