A new membership for the Credit Union Advisory Committee has been announced by the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Commerce, Mr Noel Treacy.

The committee, which advises the Minister on the management of the credit unions and the protection of members' and creditors' interests, will hold office for three years.

The chairman, Mr Michael Woods, of Navan, Co Meath, has been reappointed. Other members reappointed are Mr Patrick Coughlan, of Lough Credit Union, Cork, and Mr Tim Molan of Cashel, Co Tipperary. New members are: Ms Maureen Monaghan, Tuam, Co Galway; Mr Martin Nolan, Eircom credit union; Mr Gerry Thompson, Lanes/Ballyleague, Co Longford; and Ms Anne Forde, Inchicore, Dublin.

The chairman could not be contacted. No member contacted would comment on the current controversy confronting the Irish League of Credit Unions. A meeting is to be held in Limerick University on February 24th/25th. The meeting will be closed to the media.
