Development Land: The rush to sell housing land resumes this week with the marketing of a ready-to-go site for 156 homes overlooking Wicklow town and bay.
Hamilton Osborne King is guiding over €27 million for the 112.5 acres on the side of Ballyguile Hill, about 1km to the south-west of Wicklow town.
Wicklow has become popular with Dublin commuters in recent years, largely because of the upgraded N11 dual carriageway which runs to Rathnew, about 3.5kms from the town.
The improvements to the roadway has resulted in a high level of new development in the town.
The site is to be sold in one or more lots. The first lot of 24.5 acres has full planning permission for 156 homes and a crèche.
The second lot of 88 acres is not currently zoned for development. The Wicklow Environs Local Area Plan provides for a relief road to run across the site. This, according to HOK, will improve accessibility and greatly enhance the potential for further rezoning and development. The site goes for sale by tender on October 5th.
