THE GROWING reputation of Beacon South Quarter in Sandyford as a centre for fashionable home furnishings is to get a boost with the decision of the German kitchen retailer Rational Kitchens to open a flagship store there.
A franchisee for the kitchen group has leased a store of 418sq m (4,500sq ft) on the plaza level where it will be showing the latest designs from the German company.
Although agent CB Richard Ellis refused to disclose the rent to be paid when the shop opens in June, it is understood that Rational will be paying in the region of €322 per sq m (€30 per sq ft) on a 25-year lease with upwards-only rent reviews.
Businessman Charlie Duggan, who holds the Irish franchise for Rational, said they would be showing the latest in kitchen design in the new store.
Other home furnishings traders in Beacon include Bo Concept, which is run by Barry Rochford, Roche Bobois, Diamond Living and Nationwide Tiles and Bathrooms.
Beacon South Quarter offers a good mix of retail, leisure and dining outlets and also attracts a considerable number of children since the opening of Imaginosity. The complex is anchored by a very large Dunnes Stores and is on the edge of the M50.
