A MARKETING campaign is being launched this week for the Cornmarket Centre, a distinctive new retail complex in the centre of Cork city which is being developed by a subsidiary of Munster Joinery.
Joint letting agents Irish and European and DTZ Sherry Fitz-Gerald are seeking tenants for up to 14 shops at street and basement level with a total floor area of some 4,645sq m (50,000sq ft), of which 2,728sq m (30,000sq ft) front on to the street.
Rents on a typical unit of 185sq m (2,000sq ft) shop will be €376 per sq m (€35 per sq ft). Space in the basement will be available at only €96 per sq m (€9 per sq ft).
The appeal of the centre has been greatly strengthened by the opening of multiple TK Maxx, the company specialising in selling designer label outfits at discount prices, on the entire first floor which extends to around 3,716sq m (40,000sq ft).
The Cornmarket Centre is a mixture of a period building and modern contemporary architecture.
It runs from Paul Street to Cornmarket Street and is adjacent to Patrick Street.
The former church building at the Paul Street entrance to the centre is expected to appeal to a trader looking for a distinctive premises and is also likely to suit a restaurant and bar business.
Cork City Council is currently upgrading Cornmarket Street.
