C&W surges on Telekom rumour

Shares in British-based telecoms group Cable & Wireless leapt more than 7 per cent yesterday amid renewed market hopes that German giant Deutsche Telekom was poised to make a takeover. Deutsche Telekom has long been mooted as a suitor for C&W, whose network spans Europe, the US and Asia.
