A whiskey-less Irish coffee has hit American shores after Bewley's introduced a new brand to its subsidary chain of 13 coffee houses - Rebecca's Cafe - around Boston.

"Bewleys of Dublin Cafe Blend" will also be sold to 10,000 corporate catering clients by the Campbell Bewley group which has announced its intention of opening its first US cafe later this year.

The blend was formulated by Mr Patrick Bewley, a fifth generation master blender and the managing director of the 160-year-old Bewley's Coffee company. The blend will continue to be made in Dublin and shipped to the US. Mr Patrick Campbell, chairman of Campbell Bewley, said Boston offered a strategic base for expansion in New England and across the US.
