THE chairman of Bord an Mona, Mr Pat Dineen, is expected to receive the extended report by accountants Price Waterhouse into the remuneration of chief executive Dr Eddie O'Connor later this week. Copies of the report are also expected to be sent to the secretary of the Department of Transport,

Energy and Communications, Mr John Loughrey. It has also been requested by the Joint Committee on Commercial State sponsored Bodies.

The report was ordered by the directors of Bord an Mona over three weeks ago after an initial report found that Dr O'Connor received £141,000 in expenses over the three years to last December, of which £39,000 was paid without receipts having to be produced. The new report will cover the nine years that Dr O'Connor has been chief executive.

Dr O'Connor has maintained that all elements of his remuneration were agreed with Mr Brendan Halligan, the former chairman of the company. Mr Halligan has refused to comment, but said he will appear before the Committee on Commercial State sponsored Bodies. The committee plans to question Mr Halligan, Dr O'Connor and Mr Dineen once it has examined the report.
