Mr Ron Bolger, chairman of Telecom Eireann from 1992 to 1999, has been appointed to the board of EBS Building Society as a non-executive director. Mr Bolger is a chartered accountant and consultant to KPMG Ireland, where he was previously managing partner, and is currently chairman of the Financial Services Industry Association.
Welcoming the appointment, the ESB board chairman, Mr Brian Joyce said: "Ron Bolger's reputation is well established and his wide experience in the field of financial services will be an undoubted asset to the society."
A graduate of UCD, where he is both a member of the governing body and a director of the UCD Foundation, Mr Bolger has served on the Taoiseach's committee which oversees the continuing development of the IFSC since 1987 and was chairman of Telecom Eireann until earlier this year.
