Aldi has announced it will spend almost £50 million (€63 million) this year on sourcing products from Irish-based suppliers for its Irish and UK stores.
The company says it has increased by 50 per cent the number of Irish sourced products currently on sale in all of its Irish stores in Dublin, Cork, Letterkenny and Galway. The increased business for Irish producers means some 25 per cent of the product range in Aldi shops is now locally sourced.
