AIB is bringing wide commercial experience to its board with the appointment of new non-executive directors, Mr Don Godson, CRH chief executive, and Mr Adrian Burke, retired partner at Arthur Andersen.

Mr Godson (58) became chief executive of CRH in 1994, having had the same role in the company's US subsidiary Oldcastle Inc. He joined the company in 1968 as general manager of development and became a board member in 1980.

Mr Burke (56), also from Dublin, is a former senior partner with Arthur Andersen and worked for that company for more than 30 years. He was managing partner Ireland from 1983 to 1995.

Mr Kevin Gallen (36), from Rathmullen, Co Donegal, who has become financial director at the engineering company, Unidare. He was formerly European controller of Bacardi-Martini;

Mr Kevin Duffy (48), appointed to the Labour Court this week as deputy chairman, held the posts of assistant general secretary and general secretary with the Building and Allied Trades Union before joining the ICTU in 1988 as assistant general secretary.

Mr Ciaran Davis (26) from Greystones, Co Wicklow, who is the new marketing manager at Sil icon & Software Systems.

Mr Neillus McDonnell (38) has been appointed as commercial director of the Northern Ireland packaging company, Boxmore International, while continuing as company secretary.
