A joint venture between the Derry computer software company Satcom, and a US firm Orbcomm Systems, is to create 300 jobs in the city. The link-up will involve the manufacture of a global messaging and monitoring service, and a vehicle-tracking device.

Mr Robert Andrews of Satcom said the project was the result of an extensive search by the company in the US for a suitable business partner.
